In some cases a sash window may be so badly rotten or damaged that it is not possible to restore it to a decent standard. In this case we would recommend that it be completely replaced. We regularly produce hand made period sliding sash windows to match the original window down to the finest detail. The depth and proportions of the box frame and sash casements are always retained, where feasible and all modern benefit such as a full draft proofing system, factory applied paint finishes and modern security fittings and also incorporated. A window can be made to take either traditional single glazing with linseed oil putty glazing or can also be made to take double glazed sealed units, with the option of Low E glass and Argon gas filled cavities to increase the thermal U value of the window.
All joints are mortise and tenoned and scribed the traditional way with a period Ovalo moulding on all inside face edges of the sash frames. Glazing bars are kept narrow to match the original style, even if the windows are double-glazed. We pride ourselves in producing sliding sash windows that look traditional, elegant and with all the benefits of modern technology available today.
